Downtown Las Vegas / Arts District
The city's original urban core -- Fremont Street's neon canopy, Symphony Park's Smith Center and Discovery Children's Museum, and the 18b Arts District's loft-and-gallery revival, distinct from the Strip a few miles south.
Summerlin
The Las Vegas valley's largest master-planned community, built by the Howard Hughes Corporation since 1990 on 22,500 acres along the base of the Spring Mountains, anchored by the 400-acre Downtown Summerlin district.
Spring Valley
Unincorporated Clark County community two miles west of the Strip, built out by Pardee Homes starting in 1970 and now home to Nevada's officially designated Chinatown district along Spring Mountain Road.
Southern Highlands
A gated, golf-anchored master-planned community in the far south valley, built out from a 1996 BLM land swap into roughly 1,850 acres and up to 10,400 approved homes around the private Southern Highlands Golf Club.
Centennial Hills
A newer, master-planned suburb in the far-northwest Las Vegas Valley -- inside Las Vegas city limits, unlike several neighboring unincorporated communities, and built out largely during the 2000s and 2010s boom.
Enterprise
Nevada's most populous unincorporated area -- a 66-square-mile patchwork of master-planned communities, including Mountain's Edge and Southern Highlands, in the fast-growing southwest valley, and future home of the Brightline West high-speed rail terminus.
Henderson, North Las Vegas & Boulder City
Henderson
Nevada's second-largest city, founded in 1942 around the wartime Basic Magnesium plant and incorporated in 1953 -- its own government, water utility, and a revitalized Water Street District downtown.
Green Valley
Henderson's original master-planned neighborhood, developed from 1979 by American Nevada Corporation -- mature and established, home to Green Valley Ranch Resort and The District.
Anthem
A Del Webb-built master-planned community in Henderson's far southeast, anchored by the age-55+ Sun City Anthem and the guard-gated Anthem Country Club and Anthem Highlands.
North Las Vegas
The metro's third-largest incorporated city, with its own police and fire departments, anchored by Nellis Air Force Base, Craig Ranch Regional Park, and the master-planned Aliante community in the far north valley.
Boulder City
A small, separately incorporated city about 26 miles southeast of Las Vegas, built in 1931 to house Hoover Dam's workforce -- the only city in Nevada whose charter bans casino gambling, and the closest town to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead.
