Equal Housing Opportunity
TheNewPlace.com is committed to the letter and spirit of the Fair Housing Act and similar state and local fair housing laws.
We publish neighborhood and local-market guides. We do not list dwellings, set rents or prices, show or arrange tours, or represent any party to a real estate transaction. Because we don't advertise or market specific properties, most fair-housing advertising rules written for brokerages and listing sites don't apply to our guide content the same way — but we hold ourselves to the following editorial standards anyway.
Editorial standards for our guides
- We describe places using sourced facts — housing stock, commute times, civic services and amenities, climate, taxes, and published market series — not impressions or generalizations.
- We do not characterize who "belongs" in a neighborhood based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, familial status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local fair housing law, and we do not use coded language or other proxies for that purpose.
- We do not treat school ratings, crime statistics, or "family-friendly" language as a stand-in for describing the people who live somewhere.
- Where we don't have reliable data on a topic, we say so, rather than filling the gap with assumptions or stereotypes.
- Third-party ads that may appear on the Service are not our endorsement of the advertiser. We do not use our own guide content to target, steer, or exclude housing-related advertising toward or away from any protected class.
This statement describes our editorial policy — it isn't a certification that every sentence on every guide already meets it, and our own editorial review is ongoing. It is not legal advice, and it doesn't replace the fair housing disclosures required of real estate professionals, brokerages, or advertisers who are subject to those rules directly.
