Mid-Ohio Food Collective
Mid-Ohio Food Collective, the Columbus-based food bank network, distributed more than 84 million pounds of food in 2024 and reports serving roughly 193,000 meals a day across a 20-county service area in central and southeastern Ohio; Feeding America lists it as the designated food bank for that whole 20-county region. The organization was ranked the 11th-largest food bank in the country in 2006 and has grown substantially past that scale since, though a current national ranking wasn't available to verify this session.
North Market
North Market opened in 1876 as the second of four public markets Columbus built downtown (North, East, West, and Central), and it's the only one of the four still operating on its original site -- the current building is a converted 1915 Advance Thresher Company warehouse that reopened as the market in 1995. It sits within both the National Register- and Columbus Register-listed North Market Historic District and hosts about 35 independent vendors selling prepared food, produce, meat, and specialty goods.
