Dietary & Lifestyle in Atlanta

Special dietary needs in Atlanta are served by more than scattered restaurant options — a regional kosher supervision authority, an officially zoned international commercial district, and bakeries independently certified gluten-free by outside programs.

Every item on this page clears one bar: not commonplace, not everywhere. These are real, named resources with their actual verified designation or certification — not a generic "has a hospital" or "has a gym" list. We left out anything we couldn't independently verify or that didn't clearly clear that bar, the same honesty rule used throughout this site — a shorter, accurate list beats a padded one.

Largest kosher certifying agency in the Southeast

Atlanta Kashruth Commission (AKC)

Founded in the 1970s and based in Atlanta, the AKC is an Orthodox, nationally recognized kosher supervision agency that certifies more than 150 companies, restaurants, bakeries, and manufacturing facilities across the Southeast — making it the region's largest kosher certifier.

Officially zoned international commercial overlay district

Buford Highway / Chamblee International Village

The City of Chamblee's International Village overlay, adopted along the Buford Highway corridor, was the first zoning of its kind in metro Atlanta permitting mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly development for the area's dense concentration of immigrant-owned markets and restaurants — a roughly 7-mile stretch with more than 100 international eateries spanning Mexican, Vietnamese, Korean, Ethiopian, and Caribbean cuisine.

Gluten-Free Approved certification (Gluten-Free Food Program / National Celiac Association)

Argentis Gluten-Free Bakery (formerly 2B Whole)

This Alpharetta bakery is Gluten-Free Approved through the Gluten-Free Food Program, a certification program endorsed by the National Celiac Association, and operates as a fully dedicated celiac-safe facility with no wheat ever entering the kitchen.
