Pet & Animal Specialty in Orlando-Daytona Beach-Melbourne
Animal care here goes beyond theme-park mascots — Central Florida and Brevard County each have a zoo independently accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, and Orlando is home to what SeaWorld documents as the nation's largest public-facing coral conservation facility.
Brevard Zoo
Located in Melbourne, the 75-acre Brevard Zoo is AZA-accredited and runs an active endangered-species breeding program for eastern bongo and spider monkeys, plus a rehabilitation program for non-releasable Florida black bears that serve as conservation ambassadors.
Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens
Just north of Winter Park in Sanford, the Central Florida Zoo has held Association of Zoos and Aquariums accreditation since 1986 and participates in AZA Species Survival Plans for the Indian rhino, cheetah, Amur leopard, and blue iguana, plus an offsite center dedicated to breeding and releasing endangered eastern indigo snakes.
SeaWorld Coral Rescue Center
Opened in 2023 inside SeaWorld Orlando (itself AZA-accredited), the Coral Rescue Center is documented as the largest public-facing facility dedicated to coral conservation in the country, alongside the park's long-running manatee and sea turtle rehabilitation operations.
