What Woodstock is actually like
Woodstock got its start when the railroad reached it in November 1879, growing around water-powered gristmills and yarn spinning along Little River and Noonday Creek; it shipped an estimated 2,000 bales of cotton a year by the 1890s and was incorporated as a town in 1897. The Woodstock Depot, built in 1912, once carried cotton, rope, and passengers along the Louisville and Nashville Railroad line, until passenger service ended in 1949.
